Tensegrity Lamp
This lamp was designed as a school project for my advanced CAD class. I thought the tensegrity structure would be unique and eye catching, and since the LEDs were powered by a battery pack, we accomplished this seamlessly. Since I was already comfortable with surface modeling tools after making my mouse, creating a complex and organic form was a good test of my skills.
The design I had in mind quickly reminded me of a sea animal, and I decided to play into that theme with the model. The white 3d printed shade juxtaposed the dark, angular, welded base.
